A Trash(y) Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

One of my clients called me to set up an appointment to bring by a king-sized quilt.  She asked me if I could use some of the leftover strip sets from her quilt.  She was going to toss them otherwise.

Of course I said "Yes Please!"

First thing I did was chop up the leftover sets into 4.5" chunks.  There were a few pieces I could also get a 2.5" piece out of.  I didn't know if I would be able to use them but at the very least, they could go into my orphan block box ...

Wintry Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

With the freezing temperatures and icy weather, I thought today would be a good day to share a winter themed little quilt.

It is hard to say if this quilt is technically an orphan block or a scrap quilt.  It all started with a few long strip sets I received in a scrap bag.  I decided to sew them all together and them chop them up into 4.5" sections.  The center was very easy to make.  In the scrap bag were also quite a few black 1.5" strips to frame things up nicely.

Sue Spargo Trip from Luann's Loose Threads

A few weeks ago 5 friends and I made an overnight road trip from Indianapolis to Uniontown, Ohio, which is just south of Akron.   Our destination was the Sue Spargo store.  There were a couple of quilt shop stops in Dublin, Ohio, on the way.  Since we were a group of 6, one of the girls called ahead to let them know we were coming.   There is open sewing on some Wednesdays in the classroom next to the shop so we got to meet others that were working on Sue Spargo projects.

Here is the main part of the shop ...
